Abundant Blessings

Today was such a special day!
Britt and I were able to have a day all to ourselves!
So....what did we do.... We went Junkin!!
We left early this morning and drove to Mobile
to browse all the fun Thrift Stores they have there!
We found all kinds of treasures...clothes for the kids, shoes for me and the kids,
but the best treasure of all.....lots of BOOKS!
We love books at our house!
Britt was able to find several books that he had been waiting to buy because they were too expensive online, for practically nothing!
We found several readers for Nate to read for homeschooling
and I loaded up on old vintage favorites for us to read to the kids!
Often during the day you can find me and the kids curled up reading books.
They love for me to read to them and it brings warmth to the soul to read my old childhood favorites to them:)

So thankful for time with the hubby today.....
God's blessings followed us throughout the day...Abundantly

What Would Jesus Do?

If someone needed the only coat you had....
What would Jesus do?

If someone needed a place to stay for the night.....
What would Jesus do?

If someone didn't have a car and
you had one sitting unused.....What would Jesus do?

If someone was standing on the street,
hungry, holding a sign....What would Jesus do?

If someone came in your church and
wanted to sit on your pew.....What would Jesus do?

If someone hurt your feelings, upset you, wronged you.....
What would Jesus do?

If someone looked dirty, talked filthy, stunk!......
What would Jesus do?

If someone were old, alone, and felt hopeless......
What would Jesus do?

If someone from a different race or
color walked in your church......What would Jesus do?

If someone you knew drank heavily,
did drugs, lived differently....What would Jesus do?

If someone walked by and looked
heavily burdened.....What would Jesus do?

If someone needed the Lord and
no one else would touch them.....What would Jesus do?

To be like Christ is our main goal as Christians.....
Have you stopped to consider What would Jesus do???

"Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did." 1 John 2:6

"If anyone says, "I am living in the light, but hates a Christian brother or sister, (white, black, Hispanic or whatever), that person is still living in darkness."
1 John 2:9

"But if anyone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need and refuses to help-how can God's love be in that person?" 1 John 3:17

"Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions! It is by our actions that we know we are living in the truth.." 1 John 3:18

"If someone says, " I love God, " but hates a Christian brother or sister, (stinky, poor, different color), that person is a liar; for if we don't love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we have not seen?
And God himself has commanded that we must love not only Him but our Christian brothers and sisters too."
1 John 4:20

"All the believers were of one heart and mind, and they felt that what they owned was not their own; (belonged to God anyway) they shared everything they had." Acts 4:32

"All the believers sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with those in need, ....and shared their meals with great joy and generosity." Acts 4:45

Just a Peachy Day around Here!:)

Back when my grandaddy was living, one of his prize possessions was his fruit trees. And towards the end, when he was too weak to take care of them, Britt would go over to his house and spray his trees for him every two weeks. It brought grandaddy such cheer to see someone taking care of them when he was down...and we knew that it was a good way to keep his spirits up as well....miss you grandaddy....

The first summer since grandaddy's been gone has been a hard one on all of us....But, Britt has continued to go out there and spray his fruit trees...just because.....And I'm sure grandaddy is watching and smiling!:)

I like to even think that God sprinkled a few more blossoms on them this year to remind us of His love and to keep grandaddy's memory alive:)

The peaches are beautiful and abundant! Thank you Lord for your Blessings!

Some Fun Peachy Facts for You:
-peaches were once known as Persian apples
-there are over 700 varieties of peaches, some Chinese varieties are even flat like hockey pucks!
-in China the peach is a symbol of longevity and good luck
-nectarines are just peaches without the fuzz!

The Harvest is so Great, but the Workers are so Few

You ever thought about what it would be
like to live your life fully for God?
Totally surrendered to Him.....

I was just reading in Luke where Jesus says to a crowd,
"If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition (your desires..stuff), shoulder your cross daily (be strong and bear your burdens like He did), and follow me. If you try to keep your life for yourself (do what you want to do), you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life. "
We like to think we have life all figured out.
Got the degree, the family, the home, making good money....
what else could you ask for?
God has richly blessed me! And, true that may be!
If you've included Him in all of it!:)
But, if He asked you to give it all up...to come follow Him....could you do it???
That's a hard question to answer. Our lips would like to say, "of course, yes!"
But, could you do it???
I found this study note from the Bible to be right on....
"What does Jesus want from us? Total dedication, not half hearted commitment. We can't pick and choose among Jesus' ideas and follow him, selectively, we have to accept the cross along with the crown, judgement as well as mercy. We must count the cost and be willing to abandon everything else that has given us security! With our focus on Jesus, we should allow nothing to distract us (friends, family, work, money, hobbies, fear) from the manner of living that He calls good and true."
And then He also says in Luke,
"Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and
then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God."
Wow! I think He makes himself pretty clear here!
My prayer is that more people will answer His call. He told his disciples,
" The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few."
Isn't that so true.... There are so many lost souls out there
and so few who are willing to commit fully to His call.
Is He calling you???
Pictured above is my hubby, Britt, preaching the Gospel
on a recent mission trip to Nicaragua.
Over 101 souls were saved that week because
people were willing to answer His call.
To God be the Glory!!

Praying Over Our Children

"Dear God, thank you so much for these beautiful blessings you have bestowed upon on our lives.

I thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of raising these precious, little children and for deeming us worthy enough to be called their parents.

God, I want to give them back to you. Your will be done in their lives Lord.

I pray that You will use them for Your glory and to further Your kingdom in any way You see fit Lord.

I pray that you will protect them from the evils of this world...that you would shield them from any temptations like drugs, alcohol, friendships, or any relationships that may hinder them from serving you.

I pray that they will come to know you at an early age Lord and that they will serve you, passionately, all the rest of their days!

I pray you will use them Lord, in a mighty way to glorify Your kingdom.

Thank you Lord, for sharing such special gifts with me. Thank you......"

The actual laying of hands on somebody means to "set apart for special service." Jesus and His disciples often did it to heal people as well.

From the beginning of having both our children, Britt and I have always prayed over our children. We've always laid hands on them and prayed for God's special blessings on their lives and also to protect them or to heal them when they're sick.

As parents, we are God's special vessel in which he uses to guide and raise up His children in order for them to serve Him. In order to do that, we must pray over them and ask Him to set them apart.

My prayer is that you will take the time to pray over your children and ask God to set them apart for His kingdom and protect them from the evils of this world.

My favorite time to pray over them is while they're sleeping.

All is quiet and it's just me, the Lord, and our children.........Amen

Through the eyes of our Children

While we try to teach our children all about life,

Our children teach us what life is all about.

To God Be the Glory!!

My husband left yesterday on a week long mission trip to Nicaragua. He's going to be the only pastor going so he will be preaching 6-7 times a day. Very long days for him and the whole team that went. Their mission.... to teach the Gospel and to lead these people to Christ.
I woke up this morning feeling a little sorry for myself, being that I had to get both kids ready for church on my own and not to mention, I wasn't too happy about the fact that he left us in the first place for a week! But, every year, we've always had this tradition to write the each team member a letter for each day that they're there... to encourage them and to lift them up while in the field. But this year, Britt also wrote me a letter for each day that he will be gone. Pretty sweet huh?:)
As I was scurrying through the house, preparing us all for church, I noticed I hadn't read my letter from him this morning, so I stopped and opened it.
It was so sweet.... He went on about how much he loved us and missed us, he wrote each of the kids a little piece to read for themselves, which they adored....but at the end he wrote something that pierced my heart... He said, " I love ya'll. I pray that one day you will get to meet hundreds of people who came to know Christ in this week I am gone. To God be the Glory!"
I was speechless...... where was my focus???
On Self.... Again....
I knelt down right there in front of my children and read aloud what he said.... I told them that daddy was right. Isn't that day going to be so awesome to meet those that come to know Christ through their efforts this week?!
Britt's favorite verse that he likes to quote ALOT:)
to the church he pastors' is Acts 1:8.
"But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem (your hometown), throughout Judea (your state), in Samaria (your country), and to the ends of the earth (the world)."
I thank God for a husband who is willing to GO not only to his hometown,
but also to the ends of the earth!
I also thank God for our little moment together this morning....it's not about ME.
Love ya'll! Strive to be Different!!

Dancing in the Rain

"Life is not about waiting for the

storm to pass,

It's about dancing in the rain."

Nate, Maggie, and my niece, Kambry,
enjoying a summer afternoon rain.
To be young again.......
