I love my daddy...

My favorite thing to do during the week, after I teach school, of course, is to go check on my daddy and get into something with him.. Today daddy had me in the back of his truck shaking pears from granny's pear tree:)... only got hit in the nose once!.... then we also picked a few muscadines.

A is for ANT

.. if you haven't gotten on the "lapbook" train with your children, you're missing out!

It is so much fun and a such wonderful way to teach your children about a subject, as well as teach them how to research things at a young age!

I couldn't wait to get started on ours! Maggie's being on the letter A, subject being "Ants," and Nate's will be on Nutrition, which we've already started, just haven't completed yet.

With Maggie just being 3, I did most of the research myself, gathering of all the materials.... she mainly just colored, cut, and learned as we went along!

Nate's will, of course, be more hands on since he's older and more knowledgeable about the computer. Can't wait for you to see his later on in the week!

Also, there are tons of resources out there for you to get started!

One being the homeschoolshare.com website. It's full of lapbooking 101 for beginners and also lots of great ideas and helpful tips for lapbooking veterans!

Hope you enjoy our little Ant adventure! Keep in mind it's our very first one!:) But maybe it will motivate you to get creative and get one started with your little ones!

Happy Homeschooling!!

Our Little Classroom

Today was our first day of school at the Williamson household and I will have to say it was wonderful! I was totally impressed with both Nate and Maggie at how much they were able to accomplish and how much they already knew! Now, mind you, I am quite aware that tommorow may be a whole different story, I may be crawling up a wall by the end of the day, but today, I am thankful! Blessed and encouraged for the new year! Thank you Lord!:)

Thought I'd share a peek at our little classroom.... lots of praying, learning, laughter, and sometimes a little scolding goes on in this little area... to us... it's perfect.

Brave and Courageous

Brave and Courageous

Today was such a sweet day...

Nate finally put aside his fear and learned to ride his new bike! (the bike is probably over a year old mind you...:)

Only took him 5 min to learn and he spent the rest of the afternoon (like 3 hours non stop!) riding around grammy and gradaddy's house!

I was so proud of him for putting aside his fear and being brave...

The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid?

The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,

so why should I tremble?

Wait patiently for the Lord.

Be brave and courageous.

Yes, wait patiently for the Lord

Getting ready to start a new school year around here!

I'm so excited about getting our new curriculum in the mail today, looks like it's really going to be great!

We decided to go with ABEKA this year after alot of research. I love the simple approach it uses and also because it's Biblical based. I've heard mixed reviews on it however, many saying it's repetitious, but I say, "what can it hurt?"

That's the awesome advantage of homeschooling.... trial by error! If you don't like it, change it next year! No big deal!:)

Good luck to those who are stepping out on faith this year and will be new to homeschooling! Just remember... relax and know that God will see you through! Your child is blessed to have you willing to teach him/her and will profit so much more from you teaching them one on one!

Also, many prayers for those who are veterans to homeschooling! Some days can be tough and we all know that's the days we need to be on our knees with the Lord! Good luck and best wishes for another successful school year!

Love ya'll! Strive to be Different!
