Happy Birthday Mom!

When I think of you and who you are to me.....there are no words to describe....

You are a beautiful lady through and through,

a grandmother every child wishes for,

a loving mother with such grace and wisdom,

a wife to be modeled after,

and you are my best friend.

I love you so much and

I thank God for you....

Happy Birthday Momma!

"Is your home hectic or heavenly?"

"Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is useless."
Psalm 127:1
"It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones."
Psalm 127:2
Just found this quote in the study notes of my
Bible and thought it was an awesome question....
"Is your home hectic or heavenly?"
Good question!
What would be your answer?
I think for the most part we all experience hectic seasons in our lives, but at some point we must become real with ourselves and question our busyness.
At what point does it ever become too much that we start to neglect our families and children, but most importantly, our relationship with our Lord!
Is it too painful to slow down and
question if it's all worth it?
Are we hiding behind the hectic load of our
daily lives in fear that we may really
need to change some things?
I pray that we all find balance in our daily living. That we will trust God to provide for all our needs and not neglect the most important gifts He's given us.
I pray we take our hectic lives and make them heavenly sacrifices unto Him.

Happy Birthday Bubba!

Riding his little yellow dumptruck
up and down the drive,
his most favorite thing to do.
a tough little guy,
always bumping his head on things,
causing his young parents worry...
as all us parents do!
His heart was always so tender, easily broken...fragile if you will.
He was also full of compassion, gentle...loving....
which made him so lovable and real.
When he turned three he began to complain
with headaches so severe and with such pain.
So his parents began to pray to God
for answers...for hope...and for healing.
when in reality this was only the beginning
a life changing moment.....
two young parents could never prepare for its coming.
The doctors offered little hope for their little boy
no medicines... the treatments were not working.
Daily they watched him slip away....
and finally found him in a coma.
As they watched him lie there...
so innocent, so fragile, and worn
many prayers..many tears and many talks with God
kept their hearts wretched, sometimes bitter and torn.
God heard their prayers, their heartfelt cries
He felt their tears of pain....
the fear of losing their firstborn child
their little boy, the blond haired, blue eyed one
their lives would never be the same.
The Lord's hand never left their little boy
He always had a divine plan.
One day He would awaken him
and strengthen him with His loving hand.
For He knew the plans He had for him
He wasn't quite yet through-
Cause there were lots of things He needed him for
and God's call is always true!
The little blond hair, blue eyed boy was healed
and given new life through Him
God's plan never faltered, He never gave up-
And all praise and glory, We give to Him!

This photo was taken the day my brother got out of the hospital
from having Spinal Meningitis.
It was the first time he had gotten to see me
and hold me because I was born while he was there!
When Matt was 3 1/2 he was diagnosed with Spinal Meningitis. The doctors tried everything for him but were left with no hope except for one drug that was no longer being used and had to be signed for by my parents, giving them permission to try the drug on him. Thankfully the drug saved his life. Once out of the hospital he continued to have severe seizures and headaches that would leave him screaming with pain, the doctors said that he could very well have them and other symptoms for life.
But, we believe in a Healing God and He is seizure and symptom free to this day!
I believe Matt and I have always shared a special bond because when I was six weeks old I was lying next to my mother and let out cry that sent shivers through her. In her heart she knew something was not right. They immediately took me to the hospital and found out that I, too had spinal meningitis. There was not much hope for me either, they thought they were going to lose me as well. The doctors were so perplexed as to how and why two siblings could have spinal meningitis in the same family! It was definitely not common to get and unheard of to have in the same family! But, once again, we believe in a Healing God and He delivered me as well!
I'm so thankful for God's Healing hand.
I'm so thankful that God chose to spare us and
not only heal us, but to let us live a normal and healthy life.
I love you Bubba!
Happy 37th Birthday!

Homeschooling Continues to Grow

Found this article today on the Southern Baptist Assoc. Website. Thought I'd share with those homeschooling or considering it. We're not alone......:)
Homeschooling continues to grow
Posted on Sep 3, 2010 by Staff
LUBBOCK, Texas (BP)--Several recent media reports have pointed to the growing trend of homeschooling, with Texas alone seeing a 20 percent increase in the number of homeschooling families in the past five years.Tim Lambert, president of the Texas Home School Coalition, said the economy is a factor."We've talked to a number of folks who have their kids in a private school and it's just not possible to pay those types of tuition fees anymore, and they do not want to put their kids in a public school," Lambert told CitizenLink.com.He added that the primary reason people who contact his organization choose homeschooling is that they want to "integrate their faith or pass on their values in the education of their children."The Home School Legal Defense Association reports that at least 2 million students in the United States are homeschooled, and the National Home Education Research Institute said homeschooled students typically score 15 to 30 percentile points above public school students on standardized achievement tests. The Detroit Free Press ran a feature article on homeschooling in August, noting, "With a sea of available resources and a ballooning network of supporters, homeschooling is becoming more mainstream.""I had a lot of misconceptions of homeschooling," Heidi Pair, a homeschooling parent, told the newspaper. "I had this vision of mom sitting down with her children for six to seven hours a day at the kitchen table. The more research I did, the more I thought how silly ... that is."Now Pair is enrolling her two children in online classes and scheduling 4-H meetings, karate classes and Lego League, the Free Press said, as well as choosing math curricula and planning field trips.Brian Ray, president of the National Home Education Research Institute, estimated that the number of homeschooled children is growing 7 percent annually."[Parents] want customized education, they want more time together, they want strong family ties and they want guided social interactions," Ray told the Free Press. "Many also see it as their job to pass on social values, not the schools.'"
